May has served as the President of the Scholastic Achievement Foundation since 2017 and as a member of the Board of Directors since 1996. She was selected to serve as a member of the SAF Board of Directors for the perspective and experiences she brings as an innovative and proven school administrator. She described herself as an instructional leader, committed to preparing students for college and life.

May is a nationally recognized school administrator and brings over 39 years of education leadership experience to her role. She has extensive experience in the School District of Palm Beach County. She has worked with schools in the United States and internationally on such topics as school climate, instructional coaching and feedback, co-teaching, strategies for the African American students and parent engagement. She collaborated on a multi-year student oriented research project with students in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

What was best for students was always at the core of her decisions. May is passionate about developing talent and leadership capabilities, building organization effectiveness and fostering diversity.

May holds a B.S. degree in Administration & Supervision from Florida A&M University and a Specialist degree from Nova University in Education Leadership. May has served on the Board of the Florida Association for Supervision & Development and was elected President of the State of Florida in 2000.

May enjoys reading, photography and traveling with her family. She is married and has one son.
